To meet the challenges of today’s world we need to develop the ability to mobilize different perspectives, thoughts and values in a skillful and constructive way to release un-tapped creativity and innovation.  Without the openness and skill necessary to utilize diversity it is difficult to find new solutions to old or new challenges.  And even if one part of the system comes up with a new approach, it isn’t always easy to implement this in other parts of the system because of resistance and limited thinking.

Skillful exchanges that encourage and appreciate differences actually lead to spontaneous change in a direction that makes the system more productive and positive. When a system is able to take in conflicting views with openness and understanding, it becomes influenced in a new way. This creates the foundation for good decision-making and creative problem solving as well as new approaches and products.

Creating an Innovation Culture through RelationshipSystem Intelligence

Relationship System Intelligence, which builds on emotional intelligence, social intelligence and system theory, helps individuals and teams to see themselves as part of a relationship system. Hence they develop relationship intelligence that is essential in the face of diversity (functional, cultural, gender, hierarchical, etc.) in order to enhance creativity, innovation and productivity in decision-making.  This skill creates stronger, more positive and productive teams and partners on all levels – business, organizations, families and communities.

RSI creates:  Transparency, openness, empathy, positivity, courage, understanding, and trust.  It enhances the ability to be in productive exchanges of information even when controversial or divergent views surface. 

When individuals are not skillful in hearing difficult, conflicting or unpopular views they may automatically or unconsciously filter out important information. They may also give out signals that difficult or contrary information is not acceptable even if it may be relevant for the success of the whole.
