Cultural Competence and intercultural management

We are living in a time in which international competition is increasing. We see that expatriation is decreasing in relative terms whereas there is an increase in people who are required to make many business trips to many countries in a short time span and/or who are required to work in multicultural environments. More and more multinationals have created international work teams in order to compete more effectively by bringing together the brightest people irrespective of national background. The need to create, requiring more face-to-face contacts.

Our objectives is to transfer knowledge of the Professor Gert Hofstede 5-D model to participants so that they can understand the reality of others better. If this is completed successfully we believe participants will be better equipped to:

  • Structure international experience and other information acquired in the past as well as new information. This enables participants to make more effective use of the know-how which they have collected over time.
  • Know what to do, how to act and re-act, in a situation where culture plays a role.
  • Understand oneself and one`s compatriots better as well as counterparts from other cultures. As a result participants are less likely to become angry and upset, when interacting with other cultures.
  • Analyze the best course of action in another cultural environment or vis-a-vis people with another cultural background. This enables participants to develop more effective strategies, to use more appropriate management styles and techniques and to assess when to adapt behaviour nominally etc.
  • Function more effectively with people from other cultural backgrounds.

  • Generic in-company seminars on "Intercultural management" either as part of a general management development programme or as a specialist seminar in its own right.
  • In-company seminars with an emphasis on two or more countries, with which they deal with on a frequent base.
  • In-company seminars with an emphasis on communication, marketing, negotiations, team-building or any other selected topic linked to culture.
  • In-country management seminars. Focus on two cultures only, for a maximum of 3 people.
  • E-learning programme "Insight on global diversity". A one hour programme with the explanation of the 5-D Model and the Mental images.
  • Training programmes and consultancy on affairs related to minorities and migration.
  • In-company seminars on a combination of organisational culture and intercultural management preceded by an organisational culture measurement.
  • Intercultural assessment with the help of tests such as the Intercultural Readiness Check (IRC) and the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire (MPQ)
  • Coaching with help of several instruments such as DISC and LIFO.
